This week's Top Four Tier Power Rankings are all about the play-offs as a number of sides ensure a chaotic final day. 

The rules are the same, only competitions all teams play in are considered, so no European business or EFL Trophy lark, this is the top four tiers only. Oh and just in case you forgot, a win or loss after 90 minutes still counts as a draw!
 

10th, Preston

Last 5: WWWDL

Ending the season on a high under interim manager Frankie McAvoy, Preston look set for a top half finish after a turbulent 2020/21.

The decision to replace Alex Neil probably didn’t come easily, but there have been plenty of signs of life after the Scot, with Wycombe’s Gareth Ainsworth one of the reported targets to take the reins next season.

9th, Portsmouth

Last 5: WDWLL

Pompey cling onto their play-off spot after a nervy display against an inform Wimbledon side, going 1-0 down to the hosts before a two-goal match-winning display from left back Lee Brown, netting just his second and third goals for the club.

8th, Newport

Last 5: WWDWL

Closing in on the League Two play-offs in decent fashion without a goal conceded in their last 371 minutes of action, Newport down leaders Cheltenham at the weekend, needing a point on the final matchday to compete for a promotion.

7th, Manchester City

Last 5: WWWLL

Outweighing their FA Cup exit with another League Cup title, Manchester City also add a 2-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace which as good as crowns them champions.

Sergio Aguero also scored a stunner at the weekend, and you can’t help but feel he will still have a part to play this season if City are to achieve a treble.

6th, Brentford

Last 5: WWDDD

Getting ready to try and make amends for last year’s play-off final loss, Brentford warm up in style, with an 11-game unbeaten streak, capped off with wins against top opposition in Watford and Bournemouth in their last three.

Ivan Toney also bagged his 30th of the season, to equal Glen Murray’s single-season Championship scoring record.

5th, Exeter

Clinging onto their play-off hopes, Exeter come through a tricky run of fixtures unbeaten including against Forest Green, Newport, and at the weekend, Bolton, leaving themselves a point from back-to-back finishes in the postseason knockouts.

4th, Oxford

Last 5: WWLWW

Leaving the door open for a chaotic final day in League One, Oxford make it five wins out of six against Shrewsbury, and sit a point outside of the top six.

A tricky final day meeting with Burton beckons, with the Us needing either Portsmouth or Blackpool to slip up, and a three-goal swing to jump the latter.

3rd, Hull

Last 5: WWDWW

Emphatically claiming the League One title with a 14-game unbeaten run that includes 11 wins, Hull look well set to attack the Championship on their return.

Taking a 3-1 win over Wigan at the weekend thanks to goals from Keane Lewis-Potter, George Honeyman and Josh Magennis, all three should be key men once more in the second tier next season.

2nd, Chelsea

Last 5: WWDWW

A double from Kai Havertz in a 2-0 win over Fulham at the weekend sees Chelsea return to our rankings with a run that’s as good as secured a top four finish, alongside an FA Cup final.

With one of the deepest and most injury-free squads in Europe this season, it’s hard to imagine the Blues’ campaign not ending on a high.

1st, Morecambe

Hitting form at just the right time, Morecambe have one of the best records in the country, and could well still secure automatic promotion on the final matchday.

A win over Walsall at the weekend leaves it all to play for against Bradford next time out, and Morcambe could still leapfrog Cambridge or Bolton into League Two’s top three should either lose on the final matchday.
