Middlesbrough have signed Aaron Connolly on loan until the end of the season from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Republic of Ireland international is Boro’s first signing of the January transfer window and joins until the end of the season.
Lacking game time for the Seagulls, the Irish forward struggled for form and has started just one Premier League game this season for Graham Potter's side.
Speaking to the club’s website on Sunday, Boro manager Chris Wilder said: “I’m delighted. It’s an area of the pitch we need to improve in terms of competition for places.
“He’s a young player, he’s played in the Premier League a number of times, and he’s from a technical football club. He’s also played for his country.
“He gives us pace, can finish at the top of the pitch and gives us competition for the players around him.”
Since joining Brighton's under-18 side in 2016, the 21-year-old made 52 appearances for Brighton scoring eight goals for the Seagulls.
