There were dramatic late winners all over the EFL this weekend with new league leaders in the Championship and League One. Here we'll round up the highlights of the action.

      Championship

Fulham went top of the Championship after hitting six past Bristol City at Craven Cottage. Bristol took the lead twice in the game with Fulham drawing level each time. It was 2-2 after 31 minutes but 5-2 at half-time with Aleksandar Mitrovic bagging a first-half hat-trick to take his total of the season up to 27 league goals and 30 goals for club and country so far this season. Neeskens Kebano then completed the scoring in the 57th minute to complete his brace.

The Cottagers go top because Bournemouth were beaten by a 96th-minute goal at Kenilworth Road Stadium. Bournemouth were 2-0 down to Luton in the first half but fought back to equalise but Kal Naismith the Cherries their third league defeat in five games.

Blackburn Rovers bounced back from their FA Cup exit to Wigan Athletic with a 2-0 win over Cardiff City. Joe Rothwell scored the only goal of the game although Rovers had to finish the game with ten men after Ryan Nyambe received his second yellow card. Tony Mowbray’s side are now in third but are level on points with Bournemouth.

Just behind Blackburn are Queens Park Rangers who leapfrogged West Bromwich Albion after defeating the Baggies 1-0. Charlie Austin’s 90th-minute header from Chris Willock’s cross.

Late drama was very much the theme of the day in the Championship. Middlesbrough were losing 1-0 to Reading through Andy Carroll but Matt Crooks scored in the 84th and then 95th minute to move Chris Wilder’s team into the play-off spots. Millwall were also hit by a late winner when Lewis Grabban scored in the 91st for Nottingham Forest.

Mission impossible is very much still on for Derby County after they defeated Sheffield United 2-0. Tom Lawrence was the star man, the first goal a slaloming run and the second a pin-point shot after a fantastic run from Festy Ebosele.

      League One

Wycombe Wanderers went top of the league following their 2-0 win over Oxford United as Rotherham United were stunned by Fleetwood Town. Anthony Pilkington won it for the Cod Army in the fifth minute stoppage time.

Sunderland also go ahead of Rotherham but stay second after letting a 1-0 lead slip away to Accrington Stanley. However, Wigan Athletic still have plenty of games in hand over the leading pack and made no mistake away to Doncaster Rovers.

Elsewhere there were wins for MK Dons, Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Bolton Wanderers, and Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls put two defeats in a row behind them with a 4-2 win over Plymouth.

      League Two

Tranmere Rovers long undefeated continued with a 2-0 win over Rochdale putting them now within seven points of league-leaders Forest Green Rovers. The Green drew 1-1 with third-place Northampton Town.

Forest Green looked to be going back to The New Lawn with all three points until Mitch Pinnock’s 95th minute for the Cobblers.

Newport County are up to sixth following their impressive 4-0 win over Harrogate Town. County go ahead of Port Vale, who were beaten 3-1 at home by Swindon Town.

Stevenage will be kicking themselves after being 3-1 up at home to Sutton United. Luke Norris and Jamie Reed provided the goals for Paul Tisdale’s team. But Sutton’s comeback was completed in the eighth minute of stoppage time when Richie Bennett headed in the equaliser. Still, a point against one of the top teams in League Two does help them move a little further ahead of the relegation zone.
