West Ham have announced the record signing of Brazil international Lucas Paquetá from Lyon for a club-record fee.
According to reports, the deal is set to be worth close to €60m (£50.9m), with the 25-year-old midfielder signing a five-year deal with a one-year option with the Hammers and he will wear the number 11 shirt.
The former AC Milan man joined Lyon two summers ago and has scored 21 goals and laid on 14 assists in 80 appearances across all competitions for the French side.
With 33 caps to his name for Brazil, Paquetá was a key player for the Seleção in the recent qualifiers and he is expected to be part of the Brazilian side that will start this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.
Speaking to the club's media team, Paquetá said: “I am extremely happy to be here. I hope it’s the beginning of an enjoyable journey. I hope my time here is successful,
“Last season, West Ham had a very good season and I hope they continue to enjoy more and more good seasons in my time at the club.
“I am excited to pull on the West Ham shirt and show the fans what I can do, to help my teammates and the club.”
Born in Brazil, but now East London is his home.
