Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilón has joined Atlético Madrid on a season-long loan.
Reguilón joined Spurs from Atlético’s city rivals Real Madrid in September 2020 after impressing during a loan spell with Sevilla. The defender then made his first appearance for the Spanish national team shortly afterwards.
Since joining Spurs, Reguilón has played 67 appearances for the North London club, scoring two goals.
In a statement of the signing, Atlético confirmed that the player has also recently undergone surgery last week for a groin injury so is unlikely to make his debut for his new club in the upcoming fixtures. The player is set to fulfil the role of Renan Lodi who left the club for Nottingham Forest on Monday.
