England fight back to draw against Germany in a six-goal thriller

England and Germany played out a six-goal thriller at Wembley, with the Three Lions fighting back from 2-0 down to lead Germany only to concede late on as the two nations played out a 3-3 draw.

The first-half was uneventful, with both sides struggling to find a way to score. Only Raheem Sterling midway through the first half, went close to break the deadlock but after his clever cut-back to get a clear look at goal his effort was saved by German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

However, the second half was way more entertaining. Six minutes into the second period, Harry Maguire fouled Jamal Musiala in the box and from the spot, Ilkay Gundogan made no mistake.

The Germans went two up 15 minutes later when Kai Havertz curled a perfect shot in from distance, giving no chance to Nick Pope.

Substitutes Mason Mount and Bukayo Saka sparked the Three Lions into life and in the 72nd minute Gareth Southgate's men pulled one back with through Luke Shaw.

Then, three minutes later, Mason Mount levelled with a brilliant strike into the corner of the net from inside the penalty box.

With less than 10 minutes to play, Nico Schlotterbeck stamped on Jude Bellingham's ankle inside the penalty area and from the spot, Harry Kane put England ahead for the first time in the game.

After a stunning comeback and with England over Germany, it would be very difficult to see the visitors to score an equaliser, but a poor effort from Pope spilled a long-range shot back into the path of Havertz to side-foot into the back of the net and level the game again.

The result wouldn't affect England position as they were already relegated to League B in Nations League following Italy defeat.

Germany finish second from bottom with Italy topping the group following their 2-0 win over Hungary.

The next competitive games for both England and Germany will be at this winter's World Cup in Qatar.
