Mohammed Kudus scored twice to help Ghana to a thrilling 3-2 victory over South Korea.

Action: South Korea started the better of the two sides at the Education City Stadium but were behind after 24 minutes.

A free-kick whipped in by Jordan Ayew wasn’t dealt with by the Korean defence allowing Mohammed Salisu to be in the right place at the right time to stab the ball past Kim Seung-gyu.

Another Ayew cross was responsible for Ghana’s second of the game. This one was a real peach of a cross from the left that Mohammed Kudus was able to head home.

For all of South Korea’s effort, it wasn’t until the 53rd minute that they got their first attempt on target in the entire tournament so far. A cross in from the left was met by the head of Cho Gue-sung but saved by Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

However, the left side of the pitch proved to be instrumental. Paulo Bento’s team pulled one back in the 58th minute when Lee Kang-in, who had just come off the bench, put in a ball that this time Cho was able to convert.

Cho then grabbed the equalising goal in the 61st minute. This time full-back Kim Jin-su crossed from the byline for the 24-year-old forward to finish.

Just as it seemed that Korea would be able to push for a winning goal they were behind yet again. A low cross meant for Iñaki Williams was completely missed by the Athletic player. Fortunately for Ghana, Kudus was free and able to make it 3-2.

South Korea piled on the pressure after that, desperate for an equaliser. Goalkeeper Ati-Zigi was needed to push Lee Kang-in’s free-kick around the post while Kim Jin-su had an effort cleared off the line.

But Ghana were able to hold on until the 90th minute and throughout the 10 minutes of extra-time despite Korea's pressure. When referee Anthony Taylor eventually blew for full-time, South Korea coach Paulo Bento was incensed with the his side having just won a corner. Bento's protestations leading to him receiving a red card.

The result leaves Group H still open going into the final games. Ghana will take on Uruguay while South Korea face Portugal.

Reaction: BBC pundit Didier Drogba: "Ghana is a big nation of football. They don't have the big names like Michael Essien and that generation, they had a difficult African Cup of Nations a few months ago, they really needed a good start here, lost to Portugal but I really liked their reaction today."

Magic Moment: Cho Gue-sung towered of the Ghanian defence for South Korea’s equaliser in a goal that looks even better in super-slow motion.

Man of the Match: Ajax's Mohammed Kudus scored two vital goals for his team, including the 68th-minute winner with the forward finishing well. South Korea's Kim Jin-su also deserves a mention – the left-back was full of energy and a threat going forward.

      xG: South Korea (2.36) 2-3 (1.61) Ghana

Stat of the Day: Mohammed Salisu is the first defender to score at a World Cup for Ghana.
