Inter reach Champions League final after win over AC Milan

Inter secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League final with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the second leg of the semi-final at San Siro.

Milan took the offensive initiative in the first half, but despite their efforts, they were unable to breach the resilient Inter defense.

The first notable attempt on target came from Theo Hernandez, who struck the ball from distance, catching Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana off guard. However, Theo's ambitious shot from 30 yards sailed just above the crossbar.

Onana came to Inter's rescue five minutes later when Sandro Tonali provided an unmarked Brahim Diaz with a well-placed cross. Onana anticipated Diaz's instant side-footed effort, swiftly diving to his left and successfully gathering the ball.

In the 37th minute, Rafael Leão, who had returned from injury, came agonizingly close to scoring but narrowly missed the target.

Simone Inzagui's men wasted no time in launching a swift response and crafted their most promising opportunity of the match. A Hakan Calhanoglu set piece, benefiting from a deflection off Davide Calabria's head, but Mike Maignan pulled off a superb save to deny Inter a goal.

In the second half, Inter's defense faced minimal threats from Milan during the second half, as the Rossoneri struggled to effectively involve players like Leao in the game.

Inter effectively controlled the game in the second half and sealed the victory in the 74th minute, with Lautaro Martinez scoring a goal that put the result beyond doubt, cementing Inter's lead in the tie. 

The Argentine forward exchanged a quick one-two pass with Romelu Lukaku, before unleashing a powerful shot into the near post that left Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with no chance. 

Maignan made crucial saves to deny both Martinez and Lukaku in the latter stages, preventing the match from turning into a complete rout as Inter sealed a 3-0 aggregate win and booked their ticket to the showpiece in Istanbul.

The Nerazzurri will face Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final on June 10 in Istanbul.

Inter's previous appearance in the Champions League final dates back to the memorable 2009-2010 season, when they achieved an extraordinary treble under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

Now, with their current form and success in the Champions League, Inter finds themselves in a position to potentially secure a double as they face Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final next Wednesday.
