Nottingham Forest came from behind to equalise with ten men thanks to Nicolás Domínguez’s looping header.
As expected, it was a close game at the City Ground and one that truly came alive in the second half.
The first game-changing moment of the match came ten minutes into the second half when Moussa Niakhaté was awarded a second yellow card for his foul on Yoane Wissa.
The Forest man’s foot was up as he caught the back of Wissa’s leg in a foul that could have been given as a straight red card had Niakhaté not already been awarded his second yellow.
To make matters worse for Steve Cooper’s team, Brentford scored from the resulting free-kick. Mathias Jensen's delivery from the right was converted by Christian Norgaard.
The goal was given be the onfield officials and survived a lengthy offside consultation by the VAR monitor that ruled in the Bees’ favour.
Despite that double blow, Forest responded well and equalised in the 65th minute when Harry Toffolo’s ball was met by the head of Domínguez with the ball arcing over goalkeeper Mark Flekken. It was a big goal for Forest and a great way for the Argentinian to mark his first game in front of the home fans.
Brentford had chances to go ahead and were given plenty of extra time to do with 13 minutes added on.
Forest did have to ride their look somewhat with Willy Boly needing to make some vital blocks while Murillo managed a goal-line clearance without really knowing much about it.
It’s a result that Forest will be happy with considering their inferior numbers while Brentford will feel like they missed the chance to pick up all three points on the road.
