Brighton & Hove Albion climbed into seventh place of the Premier League following a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The hosts went in front within the first three minutes when Morgan Gibbs-White delivered a lovely cross for Anthony Elanga to head into the far corner.

Despite this early lead, Forest dropped back and allowed Brighton to gain control.

The visitors had their first chance in the 18th minute with Billy Gilmour's attempt, but it was straight at Odysseas Vlachodimos.

In the 26th minute, when Evan Ferguson levelled with a superb finish from Pascal Gross' delivery.

Brighton's dominance continued, and they took the lead just before half-time, when Joao Pedro met Gross' cross with a powerful header, scoring his first league goal since September.

The Seagulls extended their lead in the 60th minute through a penalty converted by Joao Pedro, who was fouled by Chris Wood in the box

The match's turning point occurred in the 69th minute when Callum Hudson-Odoi was brought down by Jack Hinshelwood.

Initially not awarded, VAR prompted referee Taylor to review the decision, leading to a penalty for Brighton and not happy with the decision, skipper Lewis Dunk earned two quick yellow cards for dissent.

Gibbs-White calmly converted the penalty almost seven minutes after the foul and brought some hope to Steve Cooper's men.

Despite Forest's attempt to snatch a point in the final minutes, their only clear chance was in stoppage time when Seagulls' goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen denied Ryan Yates' header.

The win propelled Brighton to seventh place, surpassing Manchester United, while Forest, post-Everton's 10-point deduction, remained in 14th.
