Forest through to fourth round after extra-time Woods goal

Nottingham Forest were pushed into extra time by a resilient Blackpool but advanced thanks to Chris Wood's 110th-minute goal.

Had Forest won the first tie between these two they could have been in Dubai instead of spending January on the freezing cold Lancashire coast.

That didn't seem to bother the visitors early on though and they took the lead just 16 minutes into the game. Andrew Omobamidele had to wait a long time for his Forest debut but he had the perfect start when a corner was flicked on into his path and he made no mistake from close range.

It looked like the tie may have been over just seconds into the second half. Blackpool were caught out passing from the back with goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw needing to make a vital stop. Unfortunately for the Tangerines, the ball fell to Danilo whose effort found its way into the net.

Things went from bad to worse for Neil Critchley. Grimshaw was injured during that second goal meaning that Richard O’Donnell had to take his place between the sticks.

Blackpool proved to have plenty of fortitude that saw them get back into the game. Albie Morgan, who was partly at fault for Forest's second goal, made amends with a fantastic finish from just outside the box.

The equaliser came in the 78th minute when Andy Lyons's looping cross from the left found Kyle Joseph who had space to head in at the far post.

Blackpool had some nervy moments at the back late into the ten minutes of stoppage time but held on to push the game into extra-time.

Conditioning seemed to play a factor in the added 30 minutes with Forest looking like the fitter of the two teams.

The winning goal eventually came in the 110th minute. Ryan Yates, one of Forest's best players on the night, fired a low cross for Chris Woods who got his foot to the ball from all of a yard out.

Nuno Espírito Santos’ side had some late chances to seal the victory but still ran out 3-2 winners in the end, setting up a fourth round trip to Bristol City later this month.

Nottingham Forest were absolutely dominating and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before they scored their third.

As a Nottingham Forest fan, I am absolutely satisfied with this result! What a game and what a goal by Chris Wood in extra time! We deserved this win and I can't wait to see us continue this strong form in January.

The Blackpool manager saw his side reduced to ten men when James Husband was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Joe Lolley.

As an avid Forest fan, I'm over the moon with the result! It was a tough match, but Chris Wood's goal in extra time sealed the deal for us. Can't believe we almost missed out on Dubai because of the first tie. But hey, that's what makes football so exciting.

The manager of Blackpool, who's my team.

Wow, what a game! As a die-hard fan of Blackpool, I can't help but feel disappointed by the result. But credit where credit is due, Forest showed great resilience and determination to secure that win. Chris Wood's goal in extra time was a dagger to our hopes, but that's football for you. Still proud of our Tangerines, we'll bounce back stronger.

The Blackpool manager had to watch from the stands as his side were reduced to 10 men after Demetri Mitchell was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Wow, what an intense match! Forest pushed through to extra time and came out victorious thanks to Wood's late goal. They really showed their determination on the pitch.
