Ivan Toney marked his return to football with a goal as Brentford won 3-2 at home to Nottingham Forest to get back to winning ways.
Toney was always going to be the centre of attention in this one while Nottingham Forest were looking to ruin the striker's return.
Forest put a damper on things by taking an early goal with a fine strike from Danilo. The Brentford defence had two chances to clear the ball but eventually, Ben Mee's looping header out of the box found the Brazilian who controlled it with his left thigh before firing an effort into the corner with his right.
That fine strike was Danilo's first Premier League goal of the season after scoring his first of the 2023/24 campaign in the FA Cup against Blackpool midweek.
Toney's big moment is what levelled the scores in the 19th minute. Orel Mangala conceded a free-kick on the outside of his own area. Ivan Toney stepped up to curl an effort low past the wall and into the net. Toney may have sneakily nudged the ball to the right before taking it but goalkeeper Matt Turner's wall construction will come into question.
Keane Lewis-Potter had three chances to put Brentford ahead. The first was an effort that cannoned back off the crossbar in the first half before missing two within the space of just a few minutes early in the second half.
Brentford did eventually take the lead again in the 58th minute at the start of a manic ten minutes. Mathias Jensen's corner from the left found Ben Mee who got ahead of Murillo to head into the net.
Forest fought back though, this time with Callum Hudson-Odoi swinging in a cross from the left to Chris Woods who had space to head into the corner. The New Zealand striker's goalscoring form continued with this goal, his sixth in as many games in all competitions.
Ten minutes after originally taking the lead, Brentford did again. This one was a stylish take by Neal Maupay who brilliantly controlled Mads Roerslev before swivelling and finding the low corner.
The home side deserves credit for professionally seeing the game out from then until the end of the 90 minutes and an additional ten on top of that.
This win is the first since the start of December for Thomas Frank's team and with Toney's goalscoring return, it feels like a potential turning point in their season.
