Antonio Conte is set to undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder after falling ill with severe abdominal pain, Tottenham revealed on Wednesday morning.
Following the abdominal pain, Conte was diagnosed with Cholecystitis and is to have his gallbladder removed immediately.
A statement from Spurs read: "Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain.
"Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation.
"Everyone at the Club wishes him well."
Tottenham’s next Premier League fixture is against reigning champions Manchester City and assistant manager Cristian Stellini is expected to take charge of the first team in Conte's absence.
