Luis Suarez scored a dramatic late winner as Atletico Madrid came from behind to beat Osasuna 2-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano to keep the title race in their own hands.
Just two points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, Atletico had to win to stay clear of their city rivals. In an expectedly nervy game, Osasuna took the lead in the 75th minute and, with Real Madrid winning at the time, Los Blancos seemed set to leapfrog Atletico to the top of La Liga.
However, substitutes Joao Felix and Renan Lodi orchestrated an equaliser for Diego Simeone's men: the Brazilian left-back firing into the top corner after a superb pass from Felix.
Luis Suarez, Atleti's key man, then struck the winner with just two minutes left on the clock, firing home Yannick Carrasco's cross.
With this result, Simeone's charges remain top of La Liga, still two points clear of Real - who edged a tight contest at Athletic Bilbao.
The stage is now set for a grandstand finish to the La Liga season next Sunday. Atletico will travel to Valladolid, while Real Madrid host Villarreal, with the Rojiblancos agonisingly close to a first title success in seven years.
