Caught in the midst of the international break doldrums, Playmaker posed the question: 'Which boots are the most prolific in the Premier League?' - and then set out to find out.
It was a considerable task, but after combing through every player to score in the top flight this term and checking out their football boots of choice, we can exclusively reveal that...Nike and Adidas currently share the honour of being the Prem's most prolific boot manufacturers.
Rather incredibly, the Swoosh and the 3-Stripes are neck and neck in the goal charts: players wearing their boots scoring 148 goals for each respective brand.
Perhaps surprisingly, only eight brands of boots have actually hit the back of the net this season (we accept that some goals were headers, but the players who scored them were still wearing boots at the time!): the aforementioned footwear giants, Puma, Skechers, New Balance, Under Armour, Asics and Tru Tenaci.
In this particular battle, the hotshots at the top of the goal charts hold particular sway, so the likes of Nike ambassador Erling Haaland (13 goals) and Adidas goal getter Mo Salah are likely to play a big role in who prevails come the end of the season.
Two brands in particular seriously need their players to pull their finger out in the goalscoring stakes: Takehiro Tomiyasu the only player to notch a Premier League goal wearing Asics; Kurt Zouma the only player to make the net bulge in a pair of Tru Tenaci boots.
Check out the comprehensive rundown of the current scores on the doors...which brand will prevail come the end of the season, we wonder?
