Several well-known and almost universally acknowledged as ‘reliable’ journalists have suggested that Erling Braut Haaland’s decision on his next club will be decided soon.
Among those journalists are The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Sky Italia’s Fabrizio Romano and freelancer Jan Aage Fjortoft.
It is presumed that Haaland’s choices have been narrowed down to two: Manchester City and Real Madrid. New money versus old money.
With Real Madrid’s badly kept secret of being on the verge of completing the ‘free transfer’ of Kylian Mbappe, it has been suggested that Manchester City have moved ahead of Los Blancos in the race – a race that is nearing its completion.
Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail has said that Haaland’s move to City is most likely with the Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker becoming the highest-paid player in Premier League history, with a wage expected to be in excess of £500,000 per week.
Haaland would become City’s second striking arrival, following River Plate Julian Alvarez who joined in January, ahead of the summer transfer window.
