Plymouth have won the League One title in a thrilling final day encounter with a 3-1 over Port Vale at Vale Park. The hosts took an early lead with James Plant scoring after just three minutes. But Plymouth did not lose heart and levelled in the 34th minute through Adam Randell. Steven Schumacher's men gained momentum from there and scored another just four minutes later when Joe Edwards found the back of the net from a cross. In the second half, Finn Azaz scored from just outside the box to seal Plymouth's victory. Elsewhere, Derby County lost their chance to make it to the League One play-offs after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough United took their place in the play-offs after a 2-0 win against Barnsley. For the play-offs, the Owls will now take on Peterborough in the semi-finals, with Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers facing each other in the other semi-final. At the bottom of the table, Cambridge United managed to survive in the third tier thanks to a 2-0 win over Forest Green Rovers, while MK Dons drew 0-0 with Burton Albion and were relegated. Accrington Stanley have also been relegated, despite beating Oxford United 2-1, while Morecambe lost to Exeter 3-2 and will return to League Two after two seasons in the third tier. Already promoted Ipswich Town finished three points behind Plymouth Argyle, as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood Town.
