Liam Manning is expected to become the new Bristol City boss with the Oxford United manager to replace Nigel Pearson.
Manning took over at the U’s in March and has overseen an impressive start to the 2023/24 season with Oxford United currently second in League One just three points behind Portsmouth. Since taking over, the former West Ham youth coach has led his team out for 29 games in all competitions – winning 14 of them.
According to Bristol Live, Bristol City are able to activate a release clause in Manning’s contract to secure Nigel Pearson’s successor.
Pearson was sacked following the Robins’ 2-0 defeat away to Cardiff City with Curtis Fleming overseeing the club’s 1-0 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
City are hoping to wrap up the appointment of Manning in the next few days allowing the 38-year-old to oversee his first game this Saturday for the visit to Loftus Road to take on struggling Queens Park Rangers.
