Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to be without Matheus Cunha after the forward picked up a hamstring injury.
Wolves manager Gary O'Neil confirmed the news that Cunha's injury, which he picked up during his side's 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford, is a serious one.
"It’s a fairly significant injury to his hamstring," O'Neil said. "There’s no timeline on it. I’ve spoken to Matheus a lot and he just wants to keep pushing to get back as soon as he can.
"He’s started working on it already, so we’re just going to monitor it week by week, day by day, see how far he can come and how quickly we can get him back. He’s keen to get back out there as soon as possible.
"It’s obviously a big blow to us, to the team and Matheus because of the work he’s been doing – the form he was in was exceptional."
According to Liam Keen of Wolverhampton-based outlet Express & Star, despite the injury the club is expecting to see Cunha return to action before the end of the 2023/24 season.
Cunha has scored 11 and assisted 7 goals for his side this season, including a hat-trick in the 4-2 win against Chelsea earlier this month.
