Mick McCarthy has been named the new manager of Blackpool until the end of the season.
The 63-year-old will replace Michael Appleton who was sacked by the Tangerines earlier this week with the club second from bottom in the Championship.
McCarthy’s last job was at Cardiff City in 2021 which after a bright start ended with a run of eight consecutive defeats.
"I'm delighted to be here, I'm delighted to be back in the game,” McCarthy said about his appointment at Bloomfield Road.
"I'm thrilled to be back up at a Club where I've had many battles in the past and hopefully we can achieve some of the similar success of those years."
McCarthy will be joined by assistant Terry Connor who worked with the manager previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Irish national team.
Blackpool are next in action on Saturday when they host Huddersfield Town.
