Middlesbrough have appointed Chris Wilder as their head coach with immediate effect, replacing the outgoing Neil Warnock, who left the Championship club by mutual consent on Saturday.
In the released statement also mentions Wilder will be joined by his long-time assistant Alan Knill.
Wilder was most recently in charge at Sheffield United where he achieved two promotions at the club, taking them from League One to the Premier League.
The decision came after Warnock was informed of the club's option to replace him before the club's Championship clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday, which ended with a 1-1 draw.
Middlesbrough are 14th in the Championship after 17 games, but are just four points outside of the play-off places.
We're delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Wilder as our new manager 🔴⚪️
