Wolves were close to record their first win of the Premier League season, but a late Allan Saint-Maximin’s long-range volley rescued a point for Newcastle in a 1-1 draw at Molineux.
In an even game, Wolves broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, through their skipper Ruben Neves, who riffled an unstoppable shot beyond Nick Pope and into the bottom left corner of the net.
The visitors stepped up the pressure in the second-half but failed to create any clear-cut chances.
Raul Jimenez looked to have set the hosts up for their first win of the season when he put the ball in the net in the 81st minute, but the goals chalked off after Pedro Neto was adjudged to have fouled Ryan Fraser in the transitional breakaway.
Wolves were handling Newcastle pretty well, until a minute before the game entered the stoppage time. A poor Hwang Hee-Chan's clearance into the air, landed on Saint-Maximin's right foot, who delivered a thunderous volley that gave Wolves keeper José Sá no chance.
In the final minutes of stoppage time, the visitors came close to take the win back to Newcastle after substitute Elliot Anderson hit the bar with a far post header.
With this result Eddie Howe's men maintain their unbeaten start to the season and as they sit in seventh place on six points, while Wolves, who are yet to win a Premier League game this season are second-bottom of the table on two points.
Next up, Newcastle will travel to Liverpool on Wednesday while Bruno Lage's side will face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on the same night.
