It has been reported in German newspaper BILD that Manchester United will look to start their latest rebuild with the signings of Christopher Nkunku and Evan Ndicka.
Nkunku has been well-known for some time but it has to be said that 2021/22 has been a breakthrough year for the Frenchman.
The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder has scored 31 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions for the UEFA Europa League semi-finalists so far this season.
He began his career at Paris Saint-Germain and did manage over 50 Ligue 1 appearances for the French giants. However, like a few of PSG’s academy graduates such as Moussa Diaby, he has had to find regular game time in the Bundesliga.
The 24 year-old made his France debut in the March international break and is expected, should he continue anywhere near his current form, to be a part of Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Evan Ndicka is also a UEFA Europa League semi-finalist this season. The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has gained a lot of attention for his impressive performances for Oliver Glasner’s side so far this season.
Also Paris-born, the 22 year-old is yet to make a senior international appearance for the French national team. However, he has played at every youth level.
He joined Frankfurt in 2018 after a breakthrough season at Auxerre during the 2017/18 campaign in Ligue 2. From a semi-regular starter in the French second-tier, he has gone on to establish himself as a key man in the back-line of a German top-flight team.
Nkunku is expected to cost in the region of £70 million, whilst Ndicka’s fee is expected to be just under £20 million. Both are expected to be sought after with Newcastle United heavily linked to the latter.
