Rotherham United have replaced departed manager Paul Warne with Exeter City boss Matt Taylor on a contract until 2026.
Warne left the club to join Derby County on the 22nd September after almost six years in charge but now the Millers have announced their new permanent appointment in former Grecians manager Matt Taylor.
"Everybody at Exeter City is disappointed to lose Matt,” said the Grecians’ Chairman Julian Tagg and the club’s Supporters’ Trust Chairman Nick Hawker in a joint statement. “He has been a fantastic manager for the club and will of course be rightfully recognised for taking the team to League One for the first time in 10 years.
"Coming through the club firstly as a player, our under 23s manager, and, ultimately our manager, he has understood the importance of our ownership model. Our fans will be disappointed to lose Matt, but we are sure they will join us in thanking Matt for his commitment to the club and wish him every success for the future.”
Taylor will be joined at the club by his assistant Wayne Carlisle and will oversee his first game tomorrow evening when Rotherham host Millwall in the Championship. Meanwhile, Exeter coaches Kevin Nicholson and Jon Hill will take over at Exeter in the interim.
