Ten-man Liverpool lost ground in the Premier League title race, after they were held to a 2-2 draw against Tottenham on an eventful evening at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Action: In a very energetic game that saw both teams create nuemrous chances, the hosts took the lead after 13 minutes when Harry Kane ended his Premier League goal drought and slotted home Tanguy Ndombele’s superb through ball.
The Reds hit back on 35 minutes through Diogo Jota who steered home an outstanding header via Andrew Robertson's cross to score his 10th Premier League goal of the season.
The second-half started in similar fashion with Spurs wasting two glorious chances to restore their lead.
However, the Merseysiders took a controversial lead through Robertson's header, with Antonio Conte's men claiming Mohamed Salah handballed in the build-up.
Son struck back on 74 minutes as he slotted into an empty net after a mistake from Alisson Becker.
The drama didn’t end there as Robertson was sent off for a challenge on Emerson Royal. The Scot was originally given a yellow card, but referee Anthony Taylor changed his mind after checking the VAR pitchside monitor.
Big Picture: The result leaves Liverpool three points adrift of Manchester City in second spot. Spurs stay seventh and are six points off fourth-placed Arsenal having played three games less.
The two sides will now switch focus to the Carabao Cup with Liverpool scheduled to host Leicester, and Tottenham at home to West Ham on Wednesday night.
