Son Heung-min came off the bench to score his first goals of the season with a superb second-half hat-trick as Tottenham Hotspur won 6-2 at home to Leicester City.
Spurs quickly bounced back from a poor midweek performance against Sporting to hand Leicester City a heavy defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, it was the visitors who took an early lead from the spot after Davison Sánchez brought down James Justin on the edge of the area. Youri Tielemans’ resulting penalty effort was saved by Hugo Lloris but the goalkeeper was off his line giving the Leicester midfielder a chance of redemption. Tielemans made no mistake on the second attempt.
Leicester’s lead lasted just a few minutes before a corner kick routine ended in a cross to the far post that Harry Kane headed home. The turnaround was completed in the 21st minute from another corner, this time Ivan Perisic’s delivery was converted by Eric Dier.
The visitors equalised five minutes before the break when James Maddison did well to convert Timothy Castagne’s cross.
Rodrigo Bentancur put Spurs in the lead again in the 47th minute when he robbed Wilfred Ndidi in midfield, allowing him to run towards goal and finish well past Danny Ward.
The forward’s second goal was another beauty – a curling effort from the edge of the area that Ward had no chance to get to. The hat-trick was completed in the 86th minute when Spurs broke quickly with Son able to grab his third goal despite Ward getting a hand to it.
Tottenham now move up to second in the Premier League, although Arsenal can retake that place tomorrow if they win away to Brentford. Meanwhile, Leicester stay at the bottom of the table having shipped 22 goals in seven league games so far this season.
