Chelsea climbed to the summit of the Women’s Super League table following a comfortable 3-0 victory against Aston Villa at home.
The Blues received an early boost when Villa goalkeeper Anna Leat was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area to prevent a shot from Sjoeke Nusken with only four minutes played.
Aggie Beever-Jones broke the deadlock for Emma Hayes' team in the 18th minute, followed by Maika Hamano extending their lead before half-time.
Maintaining dominance throughout, Chelsea furthered their lead in the second half with a goal from Kadeisha Buchanan, who headed in a delivery from Catarina Macário.
With their fourth consecutive WSL win, Chelsea reclaimed the top spot, tied on points with Manchester City but leading with a superior goal difference. Meanwhile, Aston Villa remains in seventh place.
