Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has said that their striker Deniz Undav will be returning to the club next season after the end of his loan.
The Germany international forward has spent the this season on loan in the Bundesliga with high-flying Stuttgart, having notched 15 times in 23 appearances in the German top-flight.
In an interview with The Athletic’s Brighton correspondent Andy Naylor, De Zerbi said: “Next season Deniz Undav will come back to Brighton after his loan at Stuttgart.”
Undav joined the Seagulls for a fee believed to be in the region of around £6.5 million in January 2022 from their affiliate club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The 27-year-old has scored eight goals in 30 appearances across all competitions but has most definitely improved this season for a team that are challenging for a top four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification in Germany.
Undav began his professional career with TSV Havelse in 2015 before playing for the reserve side of Eintracht Braunschweig. He then moved to SV Meppen before Union SG and then on to Brighton.
Brighton have been blighted by several injuries to key attackers throughout the campaign, such as Julio Enciso, Joao Pedro, Kaoru Mitoma and Solly March with the latter two remaining unavailable.
