Vivianne Miedema scored the only goal of the game to help Arsenal book their place in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Ajax earned a 2-2 draw in the first leg with Romée Leuchter’s brace cancelling out goals by Stina Blackstenius and Kim Little.
The Dutch side proved to be difficult opposition once again on a rainy Amsterdam night with neither team managing to create much during the first 45 minutes.
It was fitting that it was the Netherlands forward who broke the deadlock when Ajax were caught out on their own throw. The ball eventually found its way to Miedema who fired in a low shot past Lize Kop to put the Gunners ahead.
The home side did offer some danger to Arsenal though with substitute Tiny Hoekstra having the best chance of the game for Ajax.
Arsenal will find out their fate on Monday 3rd October when the group stages are drawn in Nyon.
