Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid have won La Liga with four games left to spare after a convincing 4-0 win over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Two goals from Rodrygo put Madrid comfortably 2-0 ahead by half-time with Ancelotti electing to rest the likes of Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, and Vinícius Júnior.
Marco Asensio made it 3-0 in the 55th minute before substitute Benzema rounded off the scoring in the 81st minute. It was the 42nd goal in what has been an incredible season for the French striker.
The win also means that Ancelotti has become the first manager to win a league in each of the top five divisions with successes at Chelsea, PSG, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and now Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are looking to overturn a 4-3 defeat in the first leg against Manchester City when the two teams face off again in Spain on Wednesday before Los Blancos face their city rivals Atlético Madrid next weekend.
