La Liga starlets Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are amongst the 11 highest-paid football players in the world, with Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Chelsea being the most represented clubs.
A combination of talent with longevity in the club is what makes these players earn the highest wages in football.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas earns around €6m per annum, while Bayern Munich defender Phillip Lahm (€10m), Thiago Silva (€9,8m) from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea duo John Terry (€9.5m) and Ashley Cole (€12.4m) are the four highest paid defenders.
The best paid midfielders include Yaya Toure, from Manchester City (€13m), Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich (€10m) and David Silva, also from City (€13).
In the highest-paid strikers category figure Lionel Messi (€15m), Cristiano Ronaldo (€10m) and Anzhi's Samuel Eto'o (€20m), who is at the top of the list.
