Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League despite a 2-1 win at home to West Ham at the King Power Stadium.

The 2016 Premier League champions found themselves in a situation where they needed to secure a victory and rely on other outcomes to work in their favor.

Leicester City showcased their attacking intent in the first half, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Kelechi Iheanacho came agonizingly close, striking the top of the crossbar, while James Maddison's effort missed the target.

Their persistence paid off when Harvey Barnes orchestrated a delightful exchange of passes with Iheanacho before calmly slotting a low shot into the bottom corner to give the Foxes the lead.

During the second half, it was West Ham who posed a greater threat. Said Benrahma came inches away from equalizing as his low effort struck the post, while Jonny Evans produced a commanding defensive display to keep the Hammers at bay.

However, around the hour mark, news filtered through that Everton had scored against Bournemouth, lifting the Toffees out of the relegation zone.

Shortly after, the hosts extended their lead to 2-0 when Wout Faes directed a glancing header into the net from a well-delivered Youri Tielemans free-kick.

In the latter stages of the game, David Moyes made four changes in an attempt to spark a revival, and his side managed to reduce the deficit. Pablo Fornals' low shot found its way into the net off the post, providing a late glimmer of hope for the Hammers.

Despite West Ham's late surge, the Foxes held on to secure the victory. However, Everton's triumph over Bournemouth meant that Dean Smith's side finished the season in 18th position, two points behind the Toffees and dropped down to the Championship.
