The Football Association (FA) has charged Sandro Tonali of misconduct related to breaches of betting regulations.
The Italy and Newcastle midfielder has been under suspension from football since October 27 last year due to a separate punishment from the Italian FA. Now, he is confronted with this new accusation.
A statement from the FA reads: "Sandro Tonali has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of The FA's Betting Rules.
"It's alleged that the Newcastle United midfielder breached FA Rule E8 50 times by placing bets on football matches between 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023.
"Sandro Tonali has until 5 April 2024 to respond."
Tonali is currently serving a suspension from the Italian FA until August 27, 2024.
Despite joining Newcastle in July 2023, the 23-year-old midfielder has only managed to make 12 appearances across all competitions before being suspended from football.
Newcastle United acknowledges a misconduct charge received by Sandro Tonali in respect of alleged breaches of FA Betting Rules.
